Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer hailing from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st October of 2016, she released Pho Her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her first music on the internet in 2012. Her first album was the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she debuted more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on 21 July 2015. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her create Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. She was officially signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat, a track she sang together with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On the 21st of October in 2016, she released her debut EP named Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she performed in two tracks with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas' Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was then released in September. Then, in November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles called No One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released with her debut single February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole on The Creed II sound track on November 16. On February 20, 2019 the music video was released to accompany the track. The track has received 3 million views on YouTube during its initial week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
